Section 2.03 Pinterest & LinkedIn

USING PINTEREST

Pinterest

Pinterest is a visual discovery engine for finding ideas like recipes, home and style inspiration, and more. With billions of Pins on Pinterest, you’ll always find ideas to spark inspiration. When you discover Pins you love, save them to boards to keep your ideas organised and easy to find.

How does Pinterest work?

Pinterest is a social network where people can find inspiration and ideas for their interests and hobbies. Every idea is represented by a Pin, which is an image that is searched for and saved by Pinterest users. Pins can also link back to websites, which is why Pinterest is great for driving traffic and sales.

Why is Pinterest so popular?

Pinterest stands out because it is unique, while other popular social media sites focus on content and messages, Pinterest focuses on images. 1. The most obvious reason: This content is helpful, but it all looks the same, and they don’t attract your attention the same way beautiful images do.

Attention !!!!!

Pinterest is constantly updating its websites, app and the position of the tap. However, the following principle would still apply.

What happens when you follow someone on Pinterest? When you follow someone, it means you’re choosing to have her boards and pins in your feed, which can help you find people you want to know more about and inspire others to follow you in return. Determining the types of people you want to follow and want to have followed you requires some strategy.

Can you be anonymous on Pinterest?

While you can’t completely hide your active account, you can use secret boards to keep all of your Pins hidden from other people. Only you can view your own secret boards (unless you invite another person). For extra privacy, you can change your name or use secret boards to keep your Pins hidden from others.

Browse your home feed

Your home feed is where you’ll find Pins, people and businesses we think you’ll love based on your recent activity. We’ll also show you Pins from the people and boards you follow.

You can also search for Pins by typing keywords into the search bar. Try  typing “birthday party” in the search bar to see ideas for birthday party decor,

party food recipes, and birthday gift ideas.

LinkedIn is a social networking website designed for business professionals. It allows you to share work-related information with other users and keep an online list of professional contacts. Like Facebook and MySpace, LinkedIn allows you to create a custom profile.

Attention !!!!!

LinkedIn is constantly updating their websites, app and the position of the tap. However, the following principle would still apply.

How to Sign up on LinkedIn

  1. Go to “linked.com” and click Join now
  1. Click Join now and fill in the pop-up with your first name, last name, email address and password

then click join

  1. Complete additional steps required and then your profile is set up

1. Keep refining your LinkedIn profile

First impressions are essential, and your profile is an excellent opportunity to

impress.

Keeping your profile up to date is one of the most impactful ways to improve your contact rate. It’s not just your brand that your audience is interacting with. People do business with other people, so profiles matter.

● Aim for close to 100% completeness and continually optimise your profile.

 ● Add new skills, achievements, and examples of your latest work.

● Introduce your personality. Authenticity is as important as experience.

2. Create an effective LinkedIn page

This is your organisation’s profile on LinkedIn.

Your page should offer ample opportunities for prospective customers to learn more about your brand and the people who work there, as well as engage with relevant content.

3. Define your audience and goals

Whether raising awareness or generating leads, targeting is critical.

Once you know what you want to accomplish, it’s easier to define your audience. If your  company sells a productivity tool for social media, your goal may be to raise brand awareness  among LinkedIn members with job titles like “social media manager” or “social media lead” Better-defined audiences lead to better lead generation

4. Optimize your page for search

A well-optimized Company Page can help you gain visibility among the people searching for what your company offers.

Insert keywords. Incorporate keywords and phrases that potential customers might

use to search for your product or service. Include them in the About tab overview,  clearly representing who you are and what you do.

Link to your Page. Links are essential for boosting your search ranking. An easy win here is to link to your Page from your website. Also, make sure the LinkedIn profiles of employees are up to date.

Share relevant content. Share often. The more frequently you share content your followers engage with, the higher your Page will appear in search results.

5. Grow your  page followers

Your updates appear directly in a follower’s LinkedIn feed.

A robust following will give you a relevant audience with every update. There are a few key things you can do to start growing your following now.

● Use a “Follow” button on your site or blog

Follow Plugin Generator.

Invite your profile connections to follow your LinkedIn Page.

● Let your employees know your most essential Page posts to boost the organic reach.

● Promote your Company Page on emails, newsletters, and blog posts.

6. Publish engaging content on your company page

Post content that your target audience will want to read.

While it can be tempting to sell your audience on the benefits of your product or

service, “salesy” content doesn’t generally perform well on LinkedIn.

If there’s one thing LinkedIn members find engaging, it’s a fresh idea. Publishing thought leadership content on your Company Page is one of the most powerful ways to grow your audience.

Naturally, you will want to publish and promote your own content, but it’s also a good idea to share engaging and insightful content from others.

Summary

  • Pinterest and LinkedIn are tools, they may or not be suitable for you.  Learn enough about them before deciding if it’s for you or not.
  • Do not make quick decisions based on hearsay of others’ opinions, do your own research and make up your own mind if it’s for you.
  • Social media is part of our personal and business lives, we cannot escape it, so learn which will serve your purpose and goal.
  • In the future should you decide it is no longer for you, simply delete the App, no big deal. But use them to your advantage because they are using you for their advantage as well!
