DM PROGRESSION

Mediocre marketers think in terms of campaigns. Great marketers think in terms of growth frameworks.” –Neil Patel, New York Times Bestselling Author and Marketing Expert.

Digital market development during the 1990s and 2000s changed the way brands and businesses use technology for marketing. As digital platforms became increasingly incorporated into marketing plans and everyday life, and as people increasingly use digital devices instead of visiting physical shops, digital marketing campaigns have become prevalent, employing combinations of search engine optimization (SEO), search engine marketing (SEM), content marketing, influencer marketing, content automation, campaign marketing, and many more do. Digital marketing extends to non-Internet channels that provide digital media, such as television, mobile phones (SMS and MMS), callback, and on-hold mobile ringtones. The extension to non-Internet channels differentiates digital marketing from online marketing.

Unlike traditional marketing, digital marketing has taken on a life of its own. Mainly because it has evolved into a wide variety of different online digital marketing sectors that requires both new and well-seasoned marketing professionals to become savvier in this area to stay in the game.

Some marketing experts consider digital marketing to be an entirely new endeavor that requires a new way of approaching customers and new ways of understanding how customers behave compared to traditional marketing.

Digital marketing targets a specific segment of the customer base and is interactive.
